Guidelines

You are in this production based on both your expressed desire to be here and our estimation of your performance potential. As a theatre student/participant, we expect your best in terms of preparation and performance. Impress us every time you rehearse or perform. Every day is an audition!

  1. STAY ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE. Ineligibility WILL result in your removal from the production. Eligibility is a 2.0 and no more than one E.
  2. Be present and on time for rehearsals. Absence (unexcused) from (3) rehearsals will result in a conference with the directors, a school administrator, and the parents to determine further eligibility in the production. Excessive excused absences (5) will result in a conference with the directors, a school administrator, and the parents to determine further eligibility in the production.
  3. Have your script and a pencil with you at all times. You should also have your rehearsal shoes and any special clothing with you at every rehearsal.
  4. Be present and on time for school. Members of CHStage are expected to maintain a high level of academic performance. Your grades, attendance and school behavior are your number one priority. Do not use your participation in CHStage as an excuse for a decline in your performance in school.
  5. There will be no eating or drinking (except bottled water) of any kind in the auditorium.
  6. Leave all personal business outside of rehearsals and/or performance. Reserve the “drama” for your onstage performances! It takes self–discipline to accomplish this, but we expect it of our actors and technicians. ***NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR OF ANY KIND (INTERNET, TEXTING, WORD OF MOUTH, ETC...) IS GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM THE DRAMA COMPANY.
  7. Be responsible. Do not misplace or lose your scripts. All parental forms and permission slips will be signed and returned the next day or you will not participate.
  8. If cast in a production, we expect your total cooperation and best effort in the role for which you are selected. Do not allow your ego to become too great to accept a smaller role. You are given the part because of your ability to play it, not because you had a large part previously or it is your last year in school. Small parts are essential to the show as well. The Director’s word is final.
  9. Do not allow the comments of friends, relatives or critics to change any phase of my work without proper authorization. Do not alter lines, business, lights, properties, setting, costumes or any phase of the production without consultation with and permission from the director.
  10. Electronic Devices (Cell Phones, I-Pods, Kindles, etc...) are a distraction at rehearsal and should be left in your backpack, never seen on stage.
  11. All MCPS and CHS policies are to be followed when participating in CHStage.
  12. ANY ILLEGAL ACTIVITY IS GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL FROM THE ORGANIZATION. This includes but is not limited to verifiable evidence of alcohol or drug use, shoplifting, theft, vandalism, inappropriate images or cyber-bullying.

Dressing Room Rules:

  • Dressing rooms should be treated like men’s and women’s bathrooms. No opposite gender allowed at any time.
  • Nobody is dismissed until all rehearsal spaces (including the dressing rooms) are cleaned and organized.

Requirements:

If cast or placed on the crew your first loyalty is to the show. You may not participate in other CHS or outside activities without prior permission from the director. If the participation in an outside activity interferes with your performance or your ability to attend rehearsals, you will be asked to choose. If you are unable to choose for yourself, then the director will make the choice for you.

Pay your fees on time. The fees are important to maintaining the program. This includes the MCPS extracurricular activitiy fee (typically $30) and the CHStage activity fee (typically $20 for tech and $50 for actors)
