The CHStage Leadership Team is a student-elected body that oversees the overall operations of the CHStage. All members of the Team work closely with the directors and production staff throughout the season and facilitate company activities including but not limited to:
- Fundraising events (candy sales, bake sales, car washes)
- Freshman Day Activities
- Participation in the MCPS Theater festival/ Thespian Festival / North East Theatre Festival
- Company Picnic Alumni Events
- Company Trips
- The Spring Showcase
The Leadership Team roles and responsibilities:
- The Company President – responsible for calling full company meetings, overseeing all other positions, organizing other festivals, representing CHStage at school leadership meetings
- The Company Vice-President – assisting the president, freshmen welcome, parent liaison, representing CHStage at school leadership meetings,
- The Secretary – responsible for taking notes at meetings, maintaining CHStage website
- The Treasurer – responsible for organizing fundraisers and keeping track of proceeds
- The ITS Clerk- responsible for maintaining point notebook
- The Social Chair – organizing cast parties, welcome picnic and end of the year banquet
Students are eligible to run for the Leadership Team once they have earned sophomore status. Elections are held each year before the Awards Ceremony; results are announced at the ceremony. Team Members are STUDENT LEADERS within the company. They are expected to attend all company events, display dedication and enthusiasm for the CHStage, to work for the good of the group and act as an example of appropriate behavior for the other members of the CHStage.
Crew Heads / Other leadership positions:
Crew heads are appointed based on technical knowledge, experience, initiative and enthusiasm. These positions are assigned by the CHStage Technical Director and are subject to change based on production needs and individual performance. Crew Heads are STUDENT LEADERS within the company. They are expected to attend all company events, display dedication and enthusiasm for CHStage, to work for the good of the group and act as an example of appropriate behavior for the other members of CHStage.
- Lighting Director – is responsible for lighting and special effects. Also directs follow spot operators, running of house lights, designing / hanging lighting instruments, writing light cues for shows and operating the light board. The lighting director is also responsible for operating lights in the auditorium for non-CHStage events.
- Sound Supervisor – is responsible for microphones and sound effects. This includes body mics, wired and hand-held mics, house music, amplification for pit bands, house music and any sound effects as well as operating the sound board. The sound supervisor is also responsible for operating the sound board in the auditorium for non-CHStage events.
- Properties Master – is responsible for any hand props, set dressing and furniture required for a production. This includes finding or creating hard-to-find items. Also organizes and inventories the property area in the theatre.
- Wardrobe Supervisor – is responsible for finding or constructing all costumes and clothes used in a production. This includes organizing and creating an inventory for the costume pieces.
- Stage Management – There are three levels of the Stage Management team.
- Production Stage Managers (PSM) work closely with the directors and are responsible for running the rehearsal process. The PSM is also responsible for calling cues and the actual “running” of a show.
- Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) works as a “second-in-command” and should be able to perform any of the PSM tasks if needed.
- Backstage Managers are responsible for all actions off-stage during the run of the show. Backstage managers report directly to the PSM during the production.
