In order to be invited to attend a theater festival the student must be an active member of the troupe, meaning that they are in the show when registration is due. These are a reward for working hard and a chance to compete for awards and scholarships they are not automatically given to every student.
Each year the Troupe participates in the Maryland Thespian Festival held at Tuscarora High School, a two day festival. Students travel to the Frederick school, return at night and then return for the Saturday portion.
Cost for this two day festival is $45 base. To participate in the adjudicated events is an additional $10 per event.
This is a one day festival for Montgomery County High School students to get together, receive feedback and network with other schools. This is a new festival this year. There is no fee for this festival.
Each year, the CHSTAGE attends the North East Theatre Festival at Bel Air High School This is an opportunity for CHSTAGE members to observe other high school drama programs, meet drama students from across the region, perform and compete in various competitions and participate in workshops covering all areas of theatre. This is a voluntary trip and students must be a member in good standing to attend. See the thespian constitution and troupe by-laws for what constitues a thespian in good standing.
